At well-child visits, we perform thorough exams and provide vaccines as recommended by the CDC. We will monitor your child’s growth to insure they are receiving proper nutrition. We use the highly-regarded Ages and Stages Questionnaires to monitor their development and refer children to the proper therapists if needed. Using our state-of-the-art PlusOptix vision screener, we can check your child’s vision as young as 5 months old. When appropriate, we also perform routine screening labs.
Sick visits can usually be scheduled on the day requested. A walk-in clinic is offered every Saturday morning. Most rapid tests can be performed in clinic during your child’s sick visit. Whenever more labs or imaging are needed, we have a complete Willis-Knighton laboratory and x-ray service down the hall from our clinic. Outside of normal business hours, we have 24/7 telephone coverage and can help you determine if urgent care is needed, or if you may wait for an appointment during normal business hours.
Many children suffer from chronic childhood conditions such as allergies, eczema, asthma, migraines and ADHD. Our physicians are well-experienced in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating these conditions. When subspecialty care is needed, we do refer patients to our fellow WK physicians and other community specialists.
Willis Knighton Health has teamed up with Reach Out and Read, a national program that works with pediatric healthcare providers to share and promote the lifelong benefits of families reading aloud to their children. Expanding language acquisition, increasing listening skills, and building long lasting familial bonds are just a few of the benefits of this program. Our providers educate the parents on the benefits of reading out loud to their children and hand out age appropriate books during the well child visit for the families to keep and to use.
Reach Out and Read is the only national literacy program endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is available at our clinic.
